DART making connections for growing businesses
More than 200 people participated in a recent "Meet the Primes" networking event sponsored by Dallas Area Rapid Transit and its Economic Opportunity & Government Relations Department.
Part of the agency's ongoing outreach to disadvantaged, minority and women-owned businesses (D/M/WBE) efforts, DART created the event to help the agency's prime contractors connect with potential subcontractors. Prime participants included Act 21; Archer Western; Austin Bridge & Road; Azteca Omega Group; Bridgefarmer & Associates; Byrne Construction; HDR Engineering; Herzog; HNTB; Huitt Zollars; Kiewit Texas Construction; LAN; Parson; and URS.
DART is meeting aggressive goals for D/M/WBE participation as it completes the largest light rail expansion in North America. The Green Line, connecting Southeast Dallas with Northwest Dallas, Farmers Branch and Carrollton is on pace to meet its goal of 38%. The Orange Line, from Northwest Dallas to Irving, Las Colinas and DFW Airport has a goal of 39%. The Blue Line extension from Garland to Rowlett has a 42% goal.
Prospective vendors can learn more about doing business with DART by visiting www.DART.org/procurement.
